$500M RECORD: 'The Avengers' Becomes Fastest Movie to Reach Milestone

While The Avengers won't win the Memorial Day weekend box office, the film will claim yet another box office record: Fastest to $500 million domestically. Disney and Marvel's superhero opus crossed the $500 million mark in just 23 days, beating Avatar's record of 32 days. The Avengers becomes just the fourth movie to make more than $500 million at the domestic box office, with Avatar ($749.77 million), Titanic ($600.79 million) and The Dark Knight ($533.35 million) being the other three.

The Avengers will probably pass The Dark Knight's mark for at least third on the all-time box office list this week. Finishing the three-day weekend at approximately $513 million, does The Avengers have another $90 million in it to pass Titanic?
