Howard Stern Rips Into Jay Leno on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'
Howard Stern was Jimmy Fallon's first guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. His main purpose of the appearance was to promote the premiere of America's Got Talent, the show that Stern just joined as a host. The America's Got Talent thing didn't really interest me, but Stern made the interview into something completely more engaging after Fallon started talking about people he had asked for advice before he interviewed President Barack Obama. Fallon made the mistake of listing Jay Leno as one of those people, which Stern immediately ripped into.
"That dummy! Wait a second? You called Jay Leno? Jay Leno hasn't done a good interview ever!" was the radio personality's response. I was actually kind of shocked that NBC even kept this part of the interview in the final show.
Later on in the show, Stern brought up Leno again, asking Fallon if he was going to someday take over The Tonight Show. Stern brought up the fact that David Letterman and Conan O'Brien were both denied the legendary late show, and he even dropped a reference to The War for Late Night, Bill Carter's 2010 book about O'Brien short-lived Tonight Show hosting stint.
Way to go, Howard Stern. I'm always disappointed to discover stars (like Jerry Seinfeld) who are on Leno's side.
