Will Jessica Biel Join Hugh Jackman in 'The Wolverine'?

The Wolverine, FOX's quasi-sequel to the comically awful X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has had a slow-moving journey since it was first announced a few years ago. The film is set and will be shot in Japan, focusing on Wolverine's time in the country. Darren Aronofsky was originally slated to direct, which would have been a huge upgrade for a sequel to a film that most X-Men fans ignore the existence of. Aronofsky eventually dropped out, stating that he didn't want to abroad for the amount of the time it would have taken to film The Wolverine. James Mangold, who directed Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma, stepped in to helm the film.

Twitch is now reporting that Jessica Biel has been offered the role of Viper in The Wolverine. The character Viper was once known as Madam Hydra, and yes, that's the same HYDRA that we saw the Red Skull lead in The First Avenger: Captain America. Unfortunately, like Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, Wolverine and the X-Men don't exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning there's little to no chance we'll ever see Biel's Viper team up with Hugo Weaving's Red Skull and take on Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Chris Evans' Captain America.
