Jimmy Kimmel to Challenge Leno and Letterman With Move to 11:35 p.m.

ABC today confirmed that the network will move Jimmy Kimmel Live! to the 11:35 p.m. spot beginning Jan. 8, 2013. This move will put Jimmy Kimmel's show in direct competition with Jay Leno's The Tonight Show and David Letterman's The Late Show. This move also means that Nightline, the news show that has long kept ABC from going head-to-head against The Tonight Show and The Late Show, will get pushed back to 12:35 a.m.

While I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel Live! as much as I do Conan and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel's being doing great stuff on his show for years now. During the time when NBC was pushing Conan O'Brien out of The Tonight Show in order to slid Jay Leno back in, Kimmel's ambush of Leno and his following stunt of hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! in full Leno makeup was legendary.

I hope Kimmel's show works at 11:35 p.m. against the big guys. It would be a shame to see ABC ruin the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by changing its timeslot. Then again, unlike NBC, ABC isn't in the business of ruining good things.
