Will Ben Affleck Direct 'Justice League'? Will Superman Have a Boston Accent?

Variety is reporting that Ben Affleck is at the top of Warner Bros.' list of directors for its long-simmering Justice League movie. On the heels of Marvel announcing that Joss Whedon would be back to write and direct The Avengers 2, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have to be itching to get their own superhero mashup movie finally going.

If you had told me a few years ago that Affleck would be any studio's top choice to direct their massive superhero movie, I would've laughed at you. Actually, everyone would've laughed at you. After The Town, though, everything changed for Affleck. That film reset the actor/director's career, letting us all move on from his Daredevil and Gigli days. In fact, Warner Bros. even had Affleck on their short list for Man of Steel, a film that eventually went to director Zack Snyder.

Variety goes on to mention that Affleck has mostly only directed films that he also stars in — The Town and Argo — so it would make sense that Affleck would seek a role in Justice League too. Interestingly enough, Affleck played George Reeves, the man who played Superman in the 1950s, in 2006's Hollywoodland. Does Warner Bros. want to go with younger superheroes in Justice League? I guess before we answer that question, we need to find out whether or not Snyder's Man of Steel is part of a greater Justice League cinematic universe.
