Chevy Chase Quits 'Community'

Well, this isn't a surprise. Chevy Chase has quit Community, according to a Deadline report. For pretty much Community's entire run, Chase has actively worked against the show's best interests, whether it was fighting with show creator Dan Harmon or going off on on-set tirades.
After a tumultuous three-and-a-half year relationship, Chevy Chase and the producers of NBC’s cult comedy Community are parting ways by mutual agreement. Chase’s departure from the show is effective immediately. The bulk of Community‘s 13-episode fourth-season order have been filmed. Chase won’t appear in the 1 or 2 episodes that have not been shot yet.
It seems like Chase had no idea what kind of show Community was going to be when he signed on for it, and this obviously didn't get any better with new showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port. While Chase's departure from the show is disappointing, the Pierce Hawthorne character isn't vital to the show, and if Community manages to hang on for a fourth season, Pierce won't be missed. It's too bad that Chase was part of the group that chased Harmon away from the show only to have him leave himself.

Personally, I take it as a good sign about the direction of Community's third season if the new showrunners managed to tick off Chase to the point where he would quite with just a few episodes left to go.
