Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart Join Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
X-Men: Days of Future Past just got a lot more interesting. The sequel to X-Men: First Class has been expected to deal with time travel, sourcing many of its ideas from the iconic X-Men comic of the same name. There had also been speculation that X-Men: Days of Future Past would connect Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class reboot/prequel and Bryan Singer's X-Men trilogy. Well, with one tweet, Singer (who's now on board to direct Days of Future Past) pretty much confirmed that time travel will play a role in the latest X-Men film.
Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @SirPatStew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come...
So how's this going to work? Will Ian McKellen's Magneto share the screen with Michael Fassbender's Magneto? Will Patrick Stewart's Professor X confer with James McAvoy's Professor X? According to a Deadline report, Singer isn't yet ready to reveal how the cast will play out in Days of Future Past. Should be very interesting though. I have to give Fox and Singer credit for being this ambitious with the film.
