Rider Strong Endorses 'Boy Meets World' Sequel Series but Has No Involvement In It (Won't Rule Out a Guest Spot)
After Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel officially signed on yesterday for Girl Meets World, the sequel to Boy Meets World, the question has been whether or not the rest of the original series' cast would also come aboard. Would we get to see Shawn, Eric and Mr. Feeny in Girl Meets World? Rider Strong, who played Shawn on Boy Meets World, took to his personal website on Wednesday to address the news of the new show.
Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. It was never just a job — on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it.
So I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’s own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.
It’s the next generation.
And I, for one, can’t wait to see it evolve. So what you're saying is there's a chance? OK, despite my disappointment that Strong won't be a part of Girl Meets World, he does have a point here. This isn't a Boy Meets World reunion special, and to bring back every star from the original series would only make it difficult for the new show to find its own footing. Do I want to see Shawn hang out with Cory again? You bet I do. I can wait a few episodes, though.
