'Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair': 'Breaking Bad' Trailer Hints That Walt Could Lose Everything
If you were paying attention during your high school English classes, you possibly remember the name Percy Bysshe Shelley. He was a hugely influential poet and was even married to Mary Shelley, the writer of Frankenstein. I'm guessing, though, that Shelley never imagined that one of his poems would someday be used in a commercial for Breaking Bad.
That day is here. AMC has released a new trailer for the final episodes of Breaking Bad featuring Bryan Cranston reading Shelley's Ozymandias, a poem about empires declining. During Season 5 of Breaking Bad, Walter White proudly proclaimed that he was in the "empire business." Does this trailer hint at the possibility that Walt could lose everything?
"Nothing beside remains. Round the decay / Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare / The lone and level sands stretch far away." If Ozymandias is a clue, Walt's in for a rough final few episodes.
