Marvel: 'The Avengers 2' Will Be 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'; Will Vin Diesel Play the Villain?

Forget Thanos. The Avengers will soon be living under the Age of Ultron, with director Joss Whedon just closing out Marvel's Comic-Con panel by announcing that The Avengers 2 will be titled The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

OK, this leads to a ton of questions and new theories about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since the credits scene during The Avengers, we had assumed that Thanos would be the big bad in the sequel. With Ultron now the announced villain, it looks like Thanos won't be the villain until The Avengers 3.

But how will Ultron be introduced? In the comics, Ultron was built by Hank Pym, also know as Ant-Man. The robot slowly gained artificial intelligence until it turned against Pym and the Avengers. More recently, Marvel had a huge crossover event also called Age of Ultron that saw the villain destroy the world from the future. There's time travel and everything in it. UPDATE: Empire reports that Marvel honcho Kevin Feige tells them that "The title is 'borrowed' from the comic, but bears no relation to that arc."

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn't have a Hank Pym/Ant-Man yet. That character's film isn't scheduling until late 2015, launching Phase Three. Pym and Ultron have always been connected, with Pym serving as a surrogate father for the robot. Does this mean we'll meet Pym in Avengers: Age of Ultron and later see him become Ant-Man?

Here's my other big theory: Vin Diesel will voice Ultron. The actor has been hinting that there would be some big announcement coming from Marvel by the end of the month involving him. What would be bigger than Diesel playing the villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron?
