Stewart, McAvoy, McKellen and Fassbender Face Off in New 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Posters

X-Men: Days of Future Past is probably one of the most ambitious surperhero movies in history. While it started out as just a sequel to X-Men: First Class, the movie evolved into a bridge between the X-Men origin universe created by Matthew Vaughn and the X-Men trilogy launched by Bryan Singer. The cast is made up of stars from both franchises, with some characters even having actors playing the young and old versions of them.

Two of those characters are Professor Xavier and Magneto, with James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart playing the leader of the X-Men and Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen playing the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants. Entertainment Weekly premiered two new posters for X-Men: Days of Future Past featuring these two pairings on Monday, contrasting the young and old versions of each one. Fox tried something along this idea with X-Men: First Class, awkwardly Photoshopping McAvoy and Fassbender's faces on silhouettes of the original trilogy's Xavier and Magneto. Those posters were awful. The new X-Men: Days of Future Past aren't awful. They're quite good.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, 2014. Head past the jump to check out the new posters.
