TRAILER: Jeff Bridges as a Wizard. Julianne Moore as a Witch/Dragon. Pretty Much Sums Up 'The Seventh Son'

Here's an insane movie pitch: Jeff Bridges as an insane Gandalf who teaches a kid who just happens to be the seventh son of a seventh son to fight witches led by one who also can change into a dragon and is played by Julianne Moore. If you're some studio execs, you'd say, "Nah, we already have Bridges channeling his True Grit character while teaming up with Ryan Reynolds to fight the dead." If you're other movie execs, you'd think there was a premise for a real movie in that pitch. If you're part of the latter group, you probably gave The Seventh Son the greenlight.

Way back in December, we got our first look at The Seventh Son thanks to USA Today debuting a picture featuring Bridges and Ben Barnes. The first trailer for the movie debuted on Wednesday, giving us a much deeper look at the movie. It definitely seems ... interesting. I'm getting way too much of a Jack the Giant Slayer feel, but I think that's just because of the general setup of The Seventh Son. For everyone's sakes, let's hope this movie is nothing like Jack the Giant Slayer.

The Seventh Son hits theaters on Jan. 17, 2014. In addition to Bridges, Moore and Barnes, the movie stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harrington and Djimon Hounsou. Head past the jump to check out the trailer for The Seventh Son.
