REPORT: Donald Glover's Post-'Community' Project Will Be an FX Series That He Writes and Stars In
After weeks of speculation, we now know why Donald Glover left Community. The move wasn't to focus on his rap career as Childish Gambino — it turns out Glover has been shopping a new series, tentatively called Atlanta, to other networks. According to a Deadline report, FX will be the home for Glover's new series, which he will write, produce and star in.
While I'm still saddened that Glover will only appear in five episodes of Community's upcoming season, I think FX is the perfect network for him. Between FX and FXX, the brand has already proven itself when it comes to comedy, with Louie, The League, Wilfred, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Archer airing over there. Glover's Atlanta will hopefully be a great addition.
Atlanta doesn't have an debut date yet.
