'Terminator' Reboot Moves Into Crowded July 2015, Setting Up Battle with 'Independence Day' Sequel
Pirates of the Caribbean bailed out of a crowded July 2015, but that doesn't mean other studios aren't willing to half their tentpoles play in those shark-invested waters. On Monday, Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures moved their Terminator reboot from June 26, 2015, to July 1, 2015.
This move sets up a showdown with Roland Emmerich's Independence Day sequel, which is currently slated to hit theaters on July 3, 2015. Seeing as how this is Independence Day weekend we're talking about here, I think Independence Day 2 has the right of way when it comes to this release date. Is someone in the Terminator reboot going to punch a robot in the face and welcome him to Earth? Christian Bale isn't going to be in this one, so unless someone else walks into a shot, I don't think so.
