'Breaking Bad' Alternate Ending Gives Fans the 'Malcolm in the Middle' Twist of Their Dreams
"Yo, b-word! Yay, science! B-word!" If Hal, the downtrodden dad from Malcolm in the Middle, were to describe Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman, that's how he'd describe Jesse's catchphrases to his wife, Lois.
As Breaking Bad inched toward its close, there was fun speculation that the series was actually a prequel to Malcolm in the Middle, Bryan Cranston's previous show. Walter White would flee Albuquerque and enter the witness protection program, becoming Malcolm in the Middle's Hal.
It looks like the Breaking Bad crew is going to tease that possibility on the upcoming blu-ray set. On Saturday, an alternate ending to Breaking Bad hit YouTube, with Forbes reporting that the owner of the account is Michael Davies, who was the producer of Talking Bad. The clip is pretty awesome, combining the Malcolm in the Middle theory with the classic Newhart finale premise. I won't describe the clip too much — it's posted below for your viewing pleasure.
