Unaired 'SNL' Sketch: Lady Gaga Leads 'Female Sea Captains' Against Mermen and a Whale Who Stole Her Boyfriend

Every so often, Saturday Night Live leaves a really funny sketch on the cutting room floor, choosing to not air it for whatever reasons. We've seen this in the past with Jeremy Renner and Kate McKinnon's couple who ruined Thanksgiving and Fred Armisen and Bill Hader's doormen who just can't tell a Christmas story without breaking up. Did SNL do this again with Lady Gaga's episode?

The show posted an unaired sketch called Female Sea Captains on the SNL website, showing off a sketch about women as, well, sea captains after all the men in their town get either scurvy or herpes ... but probably herpes. I'm pretty sure the entire female segment of SNL's cast is in this sketch, with Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong, Noel Wells, Nasim Pedrad, Vanessa Bayer and McKinnon joining Gaga.

The sketch has a few laughs, but I can see why it was cut. The best parts are probably the mermen played by Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah and Brooks Wheelan texting on conch shells and the low-tech whales at the end of the sketch.
