Batman Prequel Series 'Gotham' Casts Its Penguin, Alfred and More

It's still unclear how Gotham, Fox's upcoming Batman prequel series, will fit into the overall Batman story or, as Popculturology's Charlie Bielinski has wondered a few times, how the series will show cops like Commissioner James Gordon fighting supervillains without Batman to help, but the network is quickly moving ahead when it comes to fleshing out the show's cast.

Over the weekend, we learned that former The OC star Benjamin McKenzie will play Gordon. On Tuesday, TVLine reported that four more actors had been added to the Gotham cast.

Robin Lord Taylor (Accepted, The Walking Dead) will play Oswald Cobblepot. You know him better as The Penguin.

Sean Pertwee (Camelot) will play Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler and guardian. Interestingly enough, this is the second time in less than two weeks that an actor has been cast to play this character, with Warner Bros. previously announcing that Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in Batman vs. Superman. Like I said before, how Gotham will fit into the Justice League universe is still unclear.

Zabryna Guevara (Burn Notice) will play Captain Essen, Gordon's boss. I guess he's not commissioner yet.

And finally, Erin Richards (Breaking In) will play Barbara Kean, Gordon's fiancé.
