BOX OFFICE REPORT (APRIL 25-27): 'The Other Woman' Seduces Top Spot From 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'
Weekend gross: $24.7 million / Total domestic gross: $24.7 million /
Percent drop: NA
I'm honestly kind of surprised that The Other Woman beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier this weekend. Based on its trailers and promotional materials, The Other Woman looked pretty bad. Rotten Tomatoes agrees, giving the movie just a 25 percent rating. When the Twitter account for The Other Woman tried to make Nicki Minaj's character a meme, things looked pretty dark. But here we are — The Other Woman opened to a respectable $24.7 million and claimed the No. 1 spot.
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (1st)
Weekend gross: $16 million / Total domestic gross: $224.9 million /
Percent drop: 37.3
After three weekends, Captain America: The Winter Soldier relinquished the top spot at the box office. The film is now the fifth highest grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe film, trailing just The Avengers and the three Iron Man movies.

3. Heaven Is for Real (2nd)
Weekend gross: $13.8 million / Total domestic gross: $51.9 million /
Percent drop: 38.7
Heaven Is for Real surprised in its first weekend with a second-place finish, and the $12 million movie continued to over perform this weekend. How many films can say that they've made back their budget in both their first and second weekends?

4. Rio 2 (3rd)
Percent drop: 38.4
Despite just barely beating its predecessor's opening mark in its debut, Rio 2 has now trailed Rio's pace the past two weekends. If Rio 2 is going to beat Rio's overall gross, it's going to have to find a way to pull in $50 million more just as the box office is about to heat up.
5. Brick Mansions (N)
Weekend gross: $9.6 million / Total domestic gross: $9.6 million /
Percent drop: NA
Percent drop: NA
I really thought the allure of Paul Walker's final finished film would make Brick Mansions a hit. The movie was definitely promoted enough over the past weeks. I'm sure the next Fast and Furious will perform differently based on Walker's legacy, though.
Next week's predictions
1. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
2. The Other Woman
3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
4. Heaven Is for Real
5. Rio 2
