Johnny Depp in Talks to Play Harry Houdini in Lionsgate's 'The Secret Life of Houdini'

After watching his post-Pirates of the Caribbean career disappear thanks to movies like The Lone Ranger and Transcendence, can Johnny Depp make a comeback by playing the most famous magician of all time? The Hollywood Reporter writes that Depp is in talks to play Harry Houdini in Lionsgate's The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero.

According to THR, the movie will "be in the vein of Indiana Jones" and "recasts Houdini as not just a master escape artist but an investigator of the world of the occult." Seeing as how Houdini actually did spend time debunking seances, this storyline isn't as much of a stretch as something like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The Secret Life of Houdini will be helmed by Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.
