Marvel Picks 'Deliver Us From Evil' Director to Helm 'Doctor Strange'
While Marvel Studios is still looking for a new director for Ant-Man, they've locked in a director to bring Doctor Strange to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Deliver Us From Evil director Scott Derrickson has signed on to helm Doctor Strange.
Marvel hasn't officially announced Doctor Strange yet, but the movie will be a part of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joining the already-announced Ant-Man, Captain America 3 and The Avengers 3.
In addition to directing the soon-to-be-released Deliver Us From Evil, Derrickson directed Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, while also writing Sinister and its sequel. With Deliver Us From Evil, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the Sinister movies on Derrickson's resumé, it looks like Marvel Studios is aiming for a horror-movie tone for Doctor Strange.
UPDATE: Derrickson confirmed the news through his Twitter account, tweeting a photo of himself with a Doctor Strange comic.
