'Game of Thrones' Leads 2014 Emmy Nominations

The nominations for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday morning.

HBO's Game of Thrones leads the pack with 19 nominations, including key noms in the Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series categories. Breaking Bad's final bow at the Emmys will have to go through Game of Thrones and possibly True Detective, HBO's other acclaimed series.

Of course, one of this year's biggest Emmy questions will be whether voters can resist honoring tired shows like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory over and over again. With newcomer Orange Is the New Black in the mix, could Emmy voters finally get over their sick addiction to Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory?

Personally, I'm really pleased to see Silicon Valley score an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination. Once again, HBO deserves praise.

The 2014 Emmys will be held on Monday, Aug. 25 on NBC. Late Night host Seth Meyers will MC the ceremony.
