'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Will Set Sail in July 2017
Pirates of the Caribbean will make its return to theaters on July 7, 2017. After churning out four movies over nine years, there'll be a six-year gap between the most recent Pirates movie and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Besides Johnny Depp, the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie doesn't have any other cast attached. Directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are still attached to the project.
Dead Men Tell No Tales was originally supposed to open in July 2015, but Disney pushed the project back to 2016 last September in order to take some time and get the story right. After Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, that's exactly what the franchise needed, a pause to set things straight. With this newly announced release date, it looks like Dead Men Tell No Tales is going to get plenty of time.
