Two More 'Lego' Movies Scheduled for 2018 and 2019

Warner Bros. is in a scheduling mood. After announcing dates for 11 superhero movies on Wednesday, the studio called dibs on dates for two more Lego movies, claiming May 25, 2018, and May 24, 2019.

The Lego Movie 2 and a Lego Ninjago movie are already scheduled for May 26, 2017, and Sept. 23, 2016. While Warner Bros. didn't reveal what Lego films fans can expect in 2018 and 2019, some outlets are speculating that the 2018 date will be for a Ninjago sequel and the 2019 date will be for The Lego Movie 3.

The Lego Movie is still the second-highest grossing movie of 2014 in the United States. Its $257.7 million gross was barely passed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier's $259.3 million. While Warner Bros. has high hopes for its superhero franchise, the Lego franchise is its real star right now. If the studio can keep releasing one Lego film a year, it could have a very profitable franchise on its hands.

Chris McKay will direct The Lego Movie 2 with Chris Miller and Phil Lord serving as executive producers.
