Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn to Star in 'True Detective' Season 2

True Detective has found two of its Season 2 leads. HBO announced on Tuesday that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will play two of the major roles in the next season of True Detective, confirming months of rumors and Twitter hashtags over who would land those roles.

Over the course of eight episodes, the second season of True Detective will tell the story of "Three police officers and a career criminal [who] must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."

Farrell will play "Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him," and Vaughn will play "Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will return to write Season 2 of True Detective, Justin Lin directing the first two episodes of the season.

HBO also noted that there is additional casting to come, which should mean that True Detective fans will get the female lead detective they've been clamoring for. Elisabeth Moss, anyone?
