'Exodus: Gods and Kings' Trailer Brings 'Gladiator' Flair to Biblical Egypt

A new trailer for Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings debuted on Wednesday morning, and — wow — does it seem epic. The director's upcoming film brings the Biblical story of Exodus to life, with Christian Bale playing Moses and Joel Edgerton playing Ramesses II.

The newly released Exodus trailer doesn't shy away from the Biblical aspect of the story, with the burning bush and plagues of Egypt all present. Bale's Moses even makes it clear to Edgerton's Ramesses that he's taking orders from God.

Scott has gotten some flack over the past month for creating a movie about Egyptians but casting it with a bunch of white actors. Sure, that's a bit tone deaf on Scott's part, but if wanted to see Bale play Moses and Sigourney Weaver play an Egyptian queen, I guess that's his choice.

Exodus: Gods and Kings opens on Dec. 12. It stars Bale, Edgerton, Weaver, Ben Kingsley and Aaron Paul.
