Joel Edgerton Wants to Play Owen Lars in an Obi-Wan Kenobi 'Star Wars' Spinoff

If Lucasfilm makes that Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff trilogy a reality, they already have one actor ready to join Ewan McGregor. Joel Edgerton, who played Owen Lars in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, told SuperHeroHype.com that he was on board for a Kenobi movie.

"Well then I definitely have to be there, right?" Edgerton told the website after they mentioned that a Kenobi spinoff would "ideally" star McGregor and take place between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.

SuperHeroHype.com also made the interesting point that despite A New Hope's Owen Lars referring to Obi-Wan as a "crazy old man," the pair seemed "like they're cool" when the Jedi handed over a baby Luke Skywalker to Owen and Beru at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

When word of a possible Kenobi trilogy started circulating last week, the possibility of Edgerton reprising the role of Owen Lars popped into my head too. I highly doubt that raising the son of Darth Vader was an easy job for the Lars family, and it was likely that Owen and Obi-Wan butted heads on several occasions.
