'Star Wars Rebels' Premiere to Re-Air on ABC With Darth Vader Added Scene

The chances of Darth Vader showing up in Star Wars: Episode VII is slim (well, maybe just his charred helmet), but the iconic villain will live on in Star Wars Rebels. Lucasfilm announced on Thursday that the premiere episode of the animated series will re-air on ABC on Oct. 26, complete with an added Vader scene.

"We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast," Star Wars Rebels Executive Producer Dave Filoni said. "We've added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones."

No word yet how Vader will appear in Rebels. Will he appear as a hologram? In person?

Honestly, I thought Lucasfilm would hold out until the season finale of Star Wars Rebels to capitalize on Darth Vader. The premiere episode of Rebels drew 6.5 million viewers on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The show is already doing great. I guess we can't really complain, though. There's a hit Star Wars TV show. There are countless new Star Wars movies coming. And Darth Vader is back and being voiced by James Earl Jones.

Disney is the best thing that ever happened to Star Wars.
