THOR: RAGNOROK Reunites Thor and Lok on July 28, 2017

Marvel Studios announced on Tuesday that a Thor sequel is coming in 2017, with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston returning as Thor and Loki for Thor: Ragnorok.

The Norse End of Days will come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" on July 28, 2017!

Chris Hemsworth will don the Mighty Avenger's cape once more for the hero's third solo adventure, and with a title as foreboding as "Ragnarok" you know he'll have to rise to his toughest challenge yet this time around!

"This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3," said Marvel's Kevin Feige. "We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and impacts everything that comes after."

End of days? Picks up where we leave Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Sounds like bad things are on the way for Thor. In the comics, Ragnorok was the name of a Thor clone created by Tony Stark and Hank Pym during the Civil War storyline. While Thor was presumed dead, Ragnorok worked for Stark to enforce superhero registration.

All of that said, Ragnorok is a legit part of Norse myth, telling the story of the end of the world as figures like Thor, Loki and Odin are killed. Will Marvel have Hemsworth play a clone of Thor? Or will Thor: Ragnorok just show the destruction of Asgard?

Thor: Ragnorok opens on July 28, 2017. No director has been announced yet.
