BOX OFFICE REPORT (OCT. 31-NOV. 2): NIGHTCRAWLER and OUIJA Tie for No. 1
T1. Nightcrawler (N)
Weekend gross: $10.9 million / Total domestic gross: $10.9 million /
Percent drop: NA
Good work, America. Sure, you can Nightcrawler and Ouija the same amount of money this past weekend, but I'm extremely proud of the fact that (at least based on early estimates) you sent Nightcrawler to an opening weekend first-place tie at the box office. Jake Gyllenhaal isn't trying to be a franchise star anymore, but the actor has delivered quite the string of performances through his recent films — Source Code, End of Watch, Prisoners — and Nightcrawler is quite possibly the best of all of them. With Oscar buzz on the way for Gyllenhaal and Nightcrawler, there's a chance this movie will stick around at the box office for awhile.
T1. Ouija (1st)
Weekend gross: $10.9 million / Total domestic gross: $35 million /
Percent drop: 45.2
Ouija rode the Halloween weekend to a first-place tie, bumping up its total gross to a whopping $35 million. Do people just not care about horror movies anymore? The 10th anniversary edition of Saw played in over 2,000 theaters this past weekend but could only muster up $650,000. Yikes.

3. Fury (3rd)
Weekend gross: $9.1 million / Total domestic gross: $60.4 million /
Percent drop: 31.9
Fury stayed in third place for the second weekend in a row, coming in just under $2 million behind weekend winners Nightcrawler and Ouija. Not bad for a film that just wrapped up its third weekend.

4. Gone Girl (4th)
Percent drop: 20.3
Thanks to its past week's revenues, Gone Girl is now director David Fincher's all-time highest grossing movie domestically. The film finally passed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which retired at $127.5 million.
5. The Book of Life (5th)
Weekend gross: $8.3 million / Total domestic gross: $40.5 million /
Percent drop: 17.4
Percent drop: 17.4
The Book of Life has made a $40.5 million over its first two weekends. Once again, Disney and Pixar animated films do that opening day.
Next week's predictions
1. Big Hero 6
2. Interstellar
3. Nightcrawler
4. Ouija
5. Gone Girl
