GAMES OF THRONES Director Michelle MacLaren in Talks to Direct WONDER WOMAN

We've been hearing that Warner Bros. wants a female director to helm its Wonder Woman movie, and it sounds like the studio is getting close to making that a reality. Game of Thrones director Michelle MacLaren is in talks to direct Wonder Woman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to directing episodes of Game of Thrones, MacLaren has also directed a few episodes of The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. If MacLaren does win the Wonder Woman gig, she would be the second Game of Thrones director to make the jump to superhero movies, following Alan Taylor directing Thor: The Dark World for Marvel Studios.

OK, let's have some real talk here. Is it a great move for Warner Bros. to have a female director take the reins of Wonder Woman. Yes. Sure. Should we be celebrating that? Wouldn't it be more impressive for a female director to helm any superhero movie? Isn't that what we should be aspiring for? I mean, Marvel will probably take criticism if a black director doesn't direct Black Panther, but shouldn't studios be trying to find diversity in all areas?

Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot as the title character and is set to open on June 23, 2017.
