Melissa McCarthy Goes Undercover in SPY Red-Band Trailer and Poster

I saw the poster before I saw the trailer for Spy, and after seeing Melissa McCarthy wearing a weird wig and a cat shirt, my first thought was: "Oh no, Melissa McCarthy continues to be typecast. Not again."

Then I watched the red-band trailer for Spy, and realized the actress actually has several looks in the movie and it appears that McCarthy might be doing some slightly different than she did in The Heat ... or Identity Thief ... or Tammy.



Putting a satirical spin on the spy genre isn't something new, but director Paul Feig is working with Jude Law (a guy who really could have been a star of spy movies) and Jason Statham (a guy who really is in spy movies).

Spy opens on May 22. In addition to McCarthy, Law and Statham, the movie stars Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Allison Janney.
