X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Adds Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp as Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm

Welcome the newest X-Men class: Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp have joined X-Men: Apocalypse as Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm.

The trio joins James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence and Evan Peters, all who are reprising their X-Men: Days of Future Past roles for the the next film in the franchise.

Fox and director Bryan Singer are skewing young with this wave of casting, bringing in two 18-year-olds (Turner and Sheridan) and a 23-year-old (Shipp). Turner is best known for playing Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, Sheridan garnered praise for his performance opposite Matthew McConaughey in Mud, and Shipp recently portrayed Aaliyah in Lifetime's Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B.

Fox has already found success in casting younger actors to play established X-Men characters, with McAvoy, Fassbender and Lawrence playing characters in X-Men: First Class that were previously portrayed by Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Rebecca Romijn in the original X-Men trilogy. In that same trilogy, Famke Janssen played Jean Grey, James Marsden played Cyclops and Halle Berry played Storm.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016.
