New Episodes of DUCKTALES Coming to Disney XD in 2017

Seeing the above image should be all that it takes to get a certain opening theme about race cars, lasers and aeroplanes stuck in your head. And if that's the case, here's some really good news: DuckTales is coming back.

Disney XD Senior Vice President Marc Buhaj announced on Wednesday that the classic cartoon was being revived for his channel and would return to TV with all-new episodes in 2017.

"DuckTales has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," Buhaj said in his statement. "It drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books, and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."

Disney XD promises that we'll see main characters Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie return, with a mention that Donald Duck will be part of new "high-flying adventures worldwide." As an expert when it comes to The Disney Afternoon, I need to point out that Donald Duck was never a big part of DuckTales. He pretty much dumped his nephews on Scrooge and bailed.

In addition to those five, the new DuckTales will feature Launchpad McQuack, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack. Where's Gizmoduck? Hopefully they're holding him off for a Darkwing Duck relaunch ... (Make that happen, Disney XD.)
