Universal Sets October 2015 Release Date for STEVE JOBS Biopic
Usually when we're talking about Steve Jobs and release dates, the topic is when Apple lovers can get the newest iPhone. In this case, though, we're talking about when Steve Jobs, the biopic on the Apple founder, will be hitting theaters. Universal Pictures announced on Wednesday that Steve Jobs will open on Oct. 9.
Steve Jobs stars Michael Fassbender as the title character, with Seth Rogen playing Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman and Jeff Daniels as John Sculley, the Apple CEO who fired Jobs. Danny Boyle directs from a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin. The film is based on Walter Isaacson's biography by the same name.
An October release date puts Steve Jobs right in the midst of awards season, which is no surprise considering this movie has always been considered a prestige project. It was like that when it was a Sony, especially during the time period when The Social Network director David Fincher was attached to direct with Christian Bale circling the title role. The combo of Doyle and Fassbender also brings an Oscar pedigree to the project.
