Jake Gyllenhaal Gets Ripped in SOUTHPAW Trailer

Jake Gyllenhaal has taken a page from the Christian Bale book of extreme body transformation, going from frighteningly gaunt in Nightcrawler to beyond ripped in Southpaw. The first trailer for Southpaw debuted on Friday, previewing Gyllenhaal as a boxer looking for redemption after losing his wife and having his daughter taken away from him.



The Academy ignored Gyllenhaal's work in Nightcrawler, but Southpaw could be the role that wins him Oscar attention. It certainly helps to have Training Day director Antoine Fuqua at the helm.

Southpaw stars Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris, Forest Whitaker, Victor Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson, Miguel Gomez, 50 Cent, Beau Knapp and Rita Ora.
