Live-Action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Starring Emma Watson to Hit Theaters in March 2017

Disney's live-action adaption of Cinderella grossed almost $70 million this past weekend. The studio will try to repeat that feat two years from now when it gives Beauty and the Beast the same treatment. Disney announced on Monday that its live-action adaption of Beauty and the Beast will open on March 17, 2017.

It was previously reported that this version of Beauty and the Beast will star Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as the Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou. Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline have also joined the cast according to The Hollywood Reporter, signing on to play Mrs. Potts and Belle's father, Maurice.

Disney also announced that Alan Menken will score Beauty and the Beast in addition to working with Tim Rice to write new songs. The original 1991 animated version of the film won Oscars for Best Music, Original Score and Best Music, Original Song.

Bill Condon will direct the film.
