Luke Evans Joins Emma Watson in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST as Gaston

He took down a dragon in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Can Luke Evans defeat a beast? The actor has been cast as Gaston in Disney's live-action adaption of Beauty and the Beast. Variety reported the news on Wednesday.

For those who haven't watched Beauty and the Beast yet, Gaston was the villain in that movie. He wanted Belle and was ready to kill the Beast in order to win her. Gaston was also kind of rapey. Not sure how director Bill Condon is going to translate that version of the character into the new film.

Evans joins Emma Watson, who was cast in January to play Belle. In addition to the Hobbit movies, Evans has starred in Dracula Untold and Fast and Furious 6.

No word on who play the Beast. I'm thinking Justin Bieber in a motion-capture suit. Disney has yet to set a release date for Beauty and the Beast.
