Sarah Michelle Gellar Joins STAR WARS REBELS Season 2

On top of the return of Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader, Star Wars Rebels has added Sarah Michelle Gellar for its second season. Well, Gellar will be voicing a character, that is, not playing herself.

The actress made the announcement over social media on Tuesday, posting a picture of herself with Star Wars Rebel Executive Producer Dave Filoni on Intagram and following up with a tweet announcing that she would be starring in Season 2 of the Star Wars animated series.

As Gellar points out, she'll be joining her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., among the Star Wars Rebels voice cast. Prinze voices Kanan, the show's elder Jedi. (Not counting Ahsoka ...)

No word yet on who Gellar will voice, but fans are already speculating that she could be voicing Princess Leia. If we're going to see the beginnings of the Rebellion during Season 2, Leia could be in the mix. We're only 14 years out from Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, though, which means the Skywalker twins are the same age as Rebels' teenage hero, Ezra Bridger. If we're looking at already existing Star Wars characters, a better bet might be that Gellar is voicing Mon Mothma.
