Tim Burton to Direct Live-Action DUMBO for Disney

Are you ready to see Johnny Depp donning a motion-capture suit to play Dumbo? With Tim Burton directing a live-action adaption of Dumbo for Disney, don't be shocked if that happens.

The Hollywood Reporter broke this story on Tuesday, reporting that the director and studio who turned Alice in Wonderland into a creepy, candy colored movie are reteaming to probably do the same to the 1941 animated classic Dumbo.

Don't worry, though, THR reports that Transformers scribe Ehren Kruger has written the screenplay, since if there's one franchise that represents quality, it's Michael Bay's Transformers. Apparently the new Dumbo movie will also add a "a unique family story that parallels Dumbo's journey." Yeah, I just barfed in my mouth a little too.

Burton has turned a career that was once based on taking risks into a career that's based on taking paychecks for casting Depp in adaptions of superior movies or TV shows. They already gave the Burton-Depp treatment to Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dark Shadows. There haven't been any reports of Burton casting Depp in Dumbo yet, but there's still plenty of time for the actor to sign on to play Dumbo or Timothy the mouse ... or even those racist crows.

Burton's Dumbo doesn't have a release date yet.
