Untitled WALKING DEAD Spinoff Get Two-Season Pickup and a Release Date

The record numbers of viewers who tune in to watch The Walking Dead every Sunday aren't the only ones who can't get enough of the series. AMC announced on Monday that it had greenlit its untitled Walking Dead spinoff for two seasons.

"We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC," Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman said in a statement. "I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story. I'm very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven't scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead."

AMC announced that the Walking Dead spinoff would air a six-episode season beginning this summer. The series will take place far away from the events of the original Walking Dead, with the action happening in Los Angeles. The Walking Dead spinoff will star Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
