STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: ROGUE ONE Adds Diego Luna

Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One's band of rebels has added another fighter. Variety reports that Diego Luna has joined Felicity JonesBen Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed in director Gareth Edwards' cast.

Lucasfilm showed a preview of Rogue One at Star Wars Celebration last month, giving fans a glimpse at the movie that will take place between Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and the original Star Wars movie and follow a band of rebels attempting to steal the plans for the first Death Star.

Jones and Ahmed will play rebels soldiers, with Luna joining their team. Mendelsohn is allegedly playing Rogue One's villain.

Luna has both acted in and directed movies. He helmed 2014's Cesar Chavez biopic that starred Michael Pena and has had roles in Y tu mamá también and Elysium.

Rogue One will kick off the Star Wars Anthology movies, a series of standalone films that tell stories not covered in the episodic Star Wars installments. Rogue One is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2016. The next Star Wars Anthology movie — supposedly about Boba Fett — is expected in 2018. The movie was originally to be directed by Chronicle helmer Josh Trank, but the director parted ways with Lucasfilm earlier this month.
