THE MUPPETS Are Coming to TV in Mockumentary Style: Here's the First Trailer

The Muppets are returning to TV this fall. After an almost two-decade absence since Muppets Tonight went off the air, Kermit and the gang will be back in a show called, appropriately, The Muppets.

ABC says that The Muppets is "a contemporary, documentary-style show" that "will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires." The series is going to air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. beginning this fall.

I love the Muppets. I love that they're going to be back on TV. The trailer for The Muppets makes me hesitant ...

Do we need an "adult" version of the Muppets? And didn't the original The Muppets Movie and the recent The Muppets film give us a look at the characters' lives when they're not working? What are the rules for the Muppet universe now? When Walter convinced Kermit to get the group back together in The Muppets, was that their real life or just a movie they were acting in? How meta are things for the Muppets?

I want The Muppets to work on ABC. I just don't want them reduced to jokes about bears pooping in the woods. Justified's Wynn Duffy is welcome to hang out with the Muppets, though.
