REPORT: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd Are Frontrunners for Marvel's 'Ant-Man'
Are we on the verge of finding an actor to play the title role in Marvel's Ant-Man? Despite Edgar Wright being attached to direct forever and the movie having a July 31, 2015, release date, we've heard very little about the development of the first movie of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
That could soon change. According to Variety, Marvel has narrowed its choices down to two actors, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd as the frontrunners to play Hank Pym, the man who will become Ant-Man.
Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of one more actor being added into the mix.
Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to the superhero genre, playing John "Robin" Blake in The Dark Knight Rises. The actor was also rumored to play Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, but that role eventually went to Chris Pratt.
Rudd, on the other hand, has never been in a superhero movie, but would definitely give Ant-Man an everyman vibe that would set it apart from bulked-up Avengers like Thor and Captain America.
