'End of Watch' trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal is a cop

Yahoo! Movies released the first trailer to End of Watch, a cop drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. Take a look at the trailer and see if you believe Donnie Darko as a cop on the street of Los Angeles.




I'm up in the air on this movie. Some blogs have knocked the idea of Gyllenhaal being in a film like this as ridiculous, because, well, he's Donnie Darko or Bubble Boy. I'm not sure if these blogs caught Gyllenhaal in his recent films. Source Code was one of 2011's best movies, and Gyllenhaal was excellent in 2009's Brothers, a film that completely flew under the radar.

The idea of Pena playing a cop is where I get stuck. Yes, he was a firefighter in World Trade Center, but he was most recently a mall cop with a lisp in Observe and Report. That's the image of Pena that I have stuck in my head, especially when he's playing a cop.
