TRAILER: Is James Franco the Great Man 'Oz' Has Been Waiting For?

The first trailer for Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful debuted at Comic-Con today, and without fail, the Internet has it ready for the rest of us too.  Telling the story of the early days of the man who would become the Wizard, Oz: The Great and Powerful stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. Quite the cast for a Wizard of Oz origin story, huh?

The film was originally supposed to star Robert Downey Jr. as Oz, but he was replaced by Franco, giving many on the Internet the chance to scoff at Franco taking such a role. I don't care what they had to say though, this trailer shows that Franco and the film have great potential. Great and powerful potential? I dunno about that, but did you see the flying monkeys? FLYING MONKEYS.

It also looks like Raimi has gone to great lengths to echo The Wizard of Oz's original device of our world being in black and white and Oz being in color, even going as far as shooting our world in 4:3 and Oz in widescreen.
