Brad Bird Isn't Directing 'Star Wars: Episode VII'
Since Star Wars: Episode VII was first announced, the Internet has repeatedly called Brad Bird to direct the new movie. Bird, who gave us the Pixar classics The Incredibles and Rataouille, seemed like an easy choice based on his relationship with Disney. After it was announced that Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt would write Episode VII, the possibility of Bird seemed even more likely.
Well, Bird killed that idea on Saturday night with a serious of tweets regarding whether or not his next project would be Star Wars: Episode VII.
“@rsavenell: You are on people's lists as top choice for Star Wars, yet haven't confirmed. Please end this tease!”Not doing Star Wars.

“@gregaveryowens: Totally just saw @bradbirda113 slam Star Wars. Brilliant!”I'm not slamming Star Wars. I'm just doing "1952"! Sheesh!

That said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer. I will be first in line to see the new STAR WARS.There. That ends that idea. Bird is a great director, but he was never going to direct Episode VII. His next film, 1952, could be very interesting though. It's supposedly based on some alien contact idea that was found in the Disney vaults. George Clooney is in talks to star in it.
