Bradley Cooper? Michael Fassbender? Jude Law? So No One Wants to Be in Natalie Portman's Western 'Jane Got a Gun'?

The idea of a Western starring Natalie Portman sounds pretty cool, right? Yeah, I think so. But based on the issues Jane Got a Gun has suffered from over the past month or so, it seems like the project might be cursed. Here's a quick rundown of what the movie has had to deal with so far: Originally, Jane Got a Gun was set to star Portman, Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton. When Fassbender dropped out, some roles were shuffled around, and Jude Law joined the project. On the first day of filming, director Lynne Ramsay didn't show up, stepping down from the movie by way of just not showing up. Ramsay was replaced by Warrior director Gavin O'Connor, but Law then dropped out since he only came on board to work with Ramsay. Bradley Cooper replaced Law, and it looked like Jane Got a Gun was finally ready to move forward.

Unfortunately for Portman, who's a producer for the film, Wednesday brought the news that Cooper would be leaving too. Deadline reported that due to conflicts with David O. Russell's filming schedule for American Hustle, Cooper wouldn't be able to make Jane Got a Gun work. The movie now goes back to the drawing board for that male lead.

Jane Got a Gun (if it ever becomes a reality) will tell the story of a woman who sets out to track down the outlaw who shot her husband before that outlaw can come back to finish what he started. I don't understand why this movie is having so many troubles, since the idea of Portman starring in a film like this sounds awesome.
