FIRST LOOK: Tom Hanks Transforms Into Walt Disney for 'Saving Mr. Banks'

Tom Hanks and Walt Disney are two of America's most-beloved entertainers, so it was only a matter of time before the two eventually came together in one pop culture moment. Saving Mr. Banks, a film that focusing on Disney's efforts to turn Mary Poppins into a movie, hits theaters on Dec. 13 and has been on our Oscar radars for some time now.

On Wednesday, Time released the first official picture from Saving Mr. Banks, showing off Hanks in his Disney makeup along side of Emma Thompson as PL Travers, the author of the Mary Poppins series. Even though generations of moviegoers have grown up watching Disney's 1964 adaption of Mary Poppins, the process of turning the book into that movie wasn't an easy one. Travers was reluctant to turn over rights to the property, forcing Disney to put on the full charm offensive. Looks like Hanks is doing just that in the new picture.

Saving Mr. Banks stars Hanks, Thompson, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman and BJ Novak. Head past the jump to check out the full picture from the movie.
