Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler and Neil Patrick Harris Lead Voice Casts for Pixar's 'Finding Dory,' 'The Good Dinosaur' and 'Inside Out'
As Disney's D23 conference kicked off (which is pretty much Disney's version of Comic-Con), Pixar made a bunch of casting announcements in regards to its next three movies.
The Good Dinosaur (May 30, 2014)
Pixar's next project will focus on a world where the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs missed our planet, leaving the dinosaurs to evolve along side humans. The story will focus on an "Apatosaurus family who work as farmers tilling fields to grow tree crops to feed their herbivore brethren." John Lithgow will voice Poppa, Frances MacDormand will voice Momma, Bill Hader will voice older brother Forest, Judy Greer and Neil Patrick Harris will voice middle siblings Ivy and Cliff, and Lucas Neff will voice Arlo, the main dinosaur of the movie. Here's what Entertainment Weekly revealed about The Good Dinosaur:
While working the field one day, Arlo discovers a large beetle rustling around the ground, but there’s something strange about it. It’s actually a human toddler, in disguise. He’s a grunting, savage little boy named Spot — who can’t talk like the dinosaurs around him.
“Spot is all alone in the world,” Sohn said. “He’s not afraid of anyone – even a dinosaur 20 times taller than him.”
The film explores what happens when dinosaurs, the dominant species on Earth, discovers these strange, clever pests we would call humans.Head past the jump to find out the latest on Inside Out and Finding Dory.
Inside Out (June 19, 2015)
Inside Out sounds like one of the more Pixaresque movies we've gotten from Pixar in awhile. The story focuses on Riley, an 11-year-old girl dealing with a move from Minnesota to San Francisco. We'll get to watch her emotions deal with the changes going on in Riley's life. Hader returns for his second-straight Pixar movie, voicing Fear. Amy Poehler voices Joy, Lewis Black voices Anger (obviously), Mindy Kaling voices Disgust and Phyllis Smith (The Office's Phyllis) voices Sadness. I'm very eager to see how this one works out for Pixar.
Finding Dory (Nov. 25, 2015)
The sequel to Finding Nemo added a few names to its voice cast, with Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy joining as Dory's parents. Ty Burrell will also voice Bailey, a beluga whale.
The interesting rumor surrounding Finding Dory is that Blackfish, the documentary about killer whales being kept in captivity, had prompted Pixar to rework the original ending to Finding Dory. Apparently the movie's ending once saw a few sea creatures wind up at a SeaWorld-like park. In light of Blackfish, the story has allegedly been changed to give the movie's characters the choice to leave the park.
