Jack Black in Talks to (Kind of) Play RL Stine in 'Goosebumps' Movie

Back in March, we learned that a Goosebumps movie was in the works. Besides Sony Pictures announcing that Rob Letterman would direct, there hasn't been much news about the movie since then. On Friday, TheWrap broke some big news about Goosebumps — Jack Black is in talks to star, possibly playing an RL Stine-esque author haunted by his literary creations come alive.

An individual familiar with the script tells TheWrap that Black would play a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations.

This is an interesting take on Goosebumps. When I first heard about the Goosebumps movie, I assumed it would either focus on one of Stine's popular books or even be an anthology of a bunch of them. I guess with the movie's main character dealing with a bunch of characters, there's still the chance we get to see Monster Blood, Night of the Living Dummy or The Haunted Mask on the big screen.
